Privacy policy
Earful (“Earful”, “we”, “us”) makes personalised podcast episodes. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Earful app and website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email support@earfulpod.com.
Information we collect
Account information
- Email and password sign-up: your name, email address and a password. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash.
- Sign in with Google or Apple: your name and email address from that provider (with Apple, you may choose to share a private relay address instead), and a provider account identifier. We never see your Google or Apple password.
- Profile: the display name and avatar colour you choose.
Your recipe and settings
The preferences you set so we can cook your shows: interests, show formats, language, number of hosts, voices, speaking style, episode length and listening schedule, plus your house rules, listening, notification and privacy settings.
Requests, questions and episodes
- Spoken requests and mid-episode questions. When you tap the mic, your speech is turned into text so we can understand what you asked. We keep the text of your request or question with your episode. Audio recordings are deleted after transcription unless you choose to keep them for 30 days in Settings.
- Episodes we make for you: scripts, transcripts, audio, cover art, chapters and the sources cited in show notes.
Listening activity
Which episodes you play, how far you get, what you save, and when you ask questions. If “Learn from my listening” is on, we use this to tune future shows. You can turn it off in Settings.
Device and technical information
A push notification token (if you allow notifications), your time zone (to schedule shows), app version, device type and basic logs needed to keep the service running and fix problems.
How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and keep you signed in.
- To research, write, voice and illustrate the episodes you ask for and your scheduled shows.
- To answer questions you ask the hosts during an episode.
- To send notifications you’ve turned on, such as “your episode is ready”.
- To keep Earful secure, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
- To communicate with you about your account or important changes to Earful.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to show you advertising.
AI processing
Earful uses AI models to turn your requests into recipes, write episode scripts, generate voices and cover art, and answer your questions. To do this, the relevant text (for example your request, your recipe and episode context) is sent to the AI providers listed below for processing. We use these services to provide Earful to you, not to build profiles for advertising. AI-generated content can contain mistakes; episodes are for entertainment and general information.
Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run Earful, under agreements that limit how they can use it:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case we’ll let you know.
How long we keep information
We keep your account information, recipe, episodes and listening history for as long as you have an account. Voice recordings are deleted right after transcription, or after 30 days if you choose to keep them. When you delete your account, we delete your personal information from our active systems right away; copies in backups are removed within 30 days.
Your choices and rights
- Access and edit: view and change your profile, recipe and settings in the app.
- Delete your account: Profile & settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, recipe, episodes and history.
- Download your data or clear history: from Profile & settings, or by emailing us.
- Notifications and personalisation: turn these on or off in Settings at any time.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete or port your information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Email support@earfulpod.com and we’ll respond within 30 days.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are hashed, and sign-in sessions on your iPhone are stored in the iOS Keychain. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.
Children
Earful is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
International transfers
Earful is operated from the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we’ll update the date above and let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
